About the Role
Our client, a community-focused non-profit organization in East London , is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Development Mentor . This role is essential in guiding and supporting young individuals to achieve their personal, educational, and vocational goals. You will provide one-on-one mentoring, facilitate group activities, and connect youth with relevant resources and opportunities within the Eastern Cape. This is a fulfilling position for someone passionate about empowering the next generation and fostering positive life outcomes for the youth of East London .
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized mentoring and support to young people, helping them set and achieve personal goals.
- Facilitate workshops and group sessions focused on life skills, career exploration, and personal development.
- Connect youth with educational, vocational training, and employment opportunities.
- Monitor and assess the progress of mentees, adjusting support strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with parents, schools, and community organizations to create a supportive network for youth.
Requirements
- Experience in youth work, social services, education, or counseling.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy towards young people.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with diverse youth populations.
- Understanding of challenges faced by young people in the Eastern Cape .
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
