About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Automotive Software Test Engineer to join their quality assurance team in Soweto . In this crucial role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans to ensure the reliability, performance, and safety of automotive software systems. Your work will directly impact the quality of vehicles produced, ensuring they meet stringent industry standards and customer expectations. This hands‑on position requires a strong understanding of software testing methodologies and a passion for automotive technology, working closely with software developers and system engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute detailed manual and automated test cases for automotive software components and systems.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using bug tracking systems.
  • Perform various types of testing, including functional, regression, integration, performance, and security testing.
  • Collaborate with software developers and systems engineers to understand software requirements and design test strategies.
  • Create and maintain test scripts and test automation frameworks.
  • Analyze test results, generate reports, and communicate findings to the project team.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of software testing processes and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience as a Software Test Engineer , with a focus on embedded systems or automotive software.
  • Proficiency in developing test cases and executing them in a systematic manner.
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
