About the Role

Our client, a major player in the financial services sector, is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Legal Advisor specializing in Compliance to join their team based in Pretoria . This role is critical for ensuring the organization adheres to all relevant financial regulations, industry standards, and internal policies. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing compliance programs, providing expert guidance on regulatory changes, and proactively identifying potential compliance risks. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust compliance policies and procedures in line with all applicable financial services legislation.
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business, advising on necessary changes to policies and practices.
• Conduct internal investigations into potential compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide expert compliance advice to business units, supporting them in navigating complex regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports to relevant authorities.
• Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees across the organization.

Requirements

• Admitted attorney with a minimum of 8 years of experience, with a significant focus on financial services regulation and compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of South African financial services laws, including FAIS, FICA, and POPIA.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing compliance frameworks and controls.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead compliance initiatives.
