Senior Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst

About the Role

Our client in Randburg is looking for a seasoned Senior Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to enhance their security monitoring and incident response capabilities. This role is critical for defending the organization against cyber threats in real-time. You will lead the analysis of security alerts, conduct investigations into potential incidents, and coordinate response efforts to minimize impact. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced analyst to take on leadership responsibilities, mentor junior staff, and play a vital part in protecting the company's critical information assets within a dedicated SOC environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts from SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and other security tools.
• Investigate and analyze security incidents, determining scope, cause, and impact.
• Coordinate and lead incident response activities, ensuring timely and effective containment and eradication.
• Develop and refine detection rules and correlation logic within the SIEM platform.
• Mentor and guide junior SOC analysts, providing technical expertise and support.
• Create detailed incident reports and post-incident review documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
• Proficiency with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, LogRhythm) and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, common attack vectors, and threat actor TTPs.
• Experience with incident response frameworks and forensic investigation techniques.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
