Sports Facility Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Sports Facility Manager to oversee operations at their premier sports complex in Pietermaritzburg . You will be responsible for the day-to‑day management, maintenance, and strategic development of all sporting facilities, ensuring they meet the highest standards for athletes, staff, and visitors. This role demands a blend of operational expertise, customer service acumen, and a passion for sports, contributing to a vibrant community hub for athletic activities and events, fostering a positive and safe environment for all users.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the operational budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and profitability of the facility.
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of all sports grounds, equipment, and amenities.
• Develop and implement strategies for increasing facility usage, event bookings, and revenue streams.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and security regulations, conducting regular risk assessments.
• Lead, train, and manage a team of facility staff, including groundskeepers, maintenance personnel, and administrative support.
• Coordinate with sports leagues, event organizers, and external stakeholders to facilitate successful events and programs.

Requirements

• Proven experience in facility management , preferably within the sports or leisure industry.
• Strong understanding of sports facility operations, maintenance, and safety protocols.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, staff, and vendor relationships effectively.
• Proficiency in relevant software for scheduling, maintenance tracking, and reporting.
