About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and experienced Special Education Needs (SEN) Coordinator to lead support services for students with diverse learning needs in Durban . This crucial role involves developing and implementing tailored educational plans, collaborating with teachers, parents, and external specialists to ensure every student receives the support necessary for their academic and personal growth. You will champion an inclusive learning environment, advocate for students' needs, and drive best practices in special education within the school community. The ideal candidate is a compassionate professional with a strong understanding of learning disabilities and a passion for fostering student potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
• Coordinate with teachers to provide strategies and resources for supporting students in mainstream classrooms.
• Liaise with parents, guardians, and external agencies (e.g., therapists, educational psychologists) to ensure a holistic support system.
• Conduct assessments to identify students' learning needs and recommend appropriate interventions and accommodations.
• Provide training and professional development to staff on best practices in SEN support and inclusive education.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and support interventions.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field, with specialized qualifications in Special Education.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience working directly with students with special educational needs.
• In-depth knowledge of various learning disabilities, developmental disorders, and effective intervention strategies.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation and policies pertaining to special education.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
