Automotive - Operations Manager - Tyres & Service Industry, Gauteng, Midrand

Duties

• Build and implement a consistent operating model across a growing national tyre and mechanical workshop network
• Lead workshop operations, technical governance and operational standards
• Drive workshop productivity, bay utilisation, labour recovery and vehicle turnaround times
• Develop a consistent customer journey from tyre/service booking through inspection, quotation, repair and final quality check
• Drive additional mechanical work through accurate vehicle inspections, transparent recommendations and customer approval
• Manage site and network P&L performance, budgets, forecasts and cost controls
• Lead new-site openings, operational readiness and network expansion
• Recruit, develop and manage workshop managers, technicians, service advisors and regional leadership
• Drive right-first-time performance and reduce comebacks, rework and warranty claims
• Ensure appropriate tooling, diagnostic equipment, workshop standards and environmental controls
• Ensure compliance with OHS and relevant automotive industry standards
• Build a high-performance culture focused on safety, integrity, accountability and customer trust
• Use operational data and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement

Requirements:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Operations, Engineering, Automotive Management or related field
• 10+ years' automotive aftersales/workshop experience
• Minimum 5 years' experience leading a multi-site network or sizeable regional operation
• Strong mechanical workshop experience covering service, maintenance and repairs
• OEM franchised dealership or vehicle manufacturer aftersales experience is essential
• Proven experience managing multiple sites/business units with full P&L accountability
• Demonstrated success in improving operational and commercial performance
• Experience opening, integrating or scaling new sites
• Strong technical understanding of workshop processes, diagnostics, job costing, labour recovery, parts and inventory controls
• Experience within the tyre, fitment, automotive service or mechanical workshop environment will be advantageous
• Proven ability to lead workshop managers, technicians, service advisors and regional teams
• Strong commercial, financial and people-management skills
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively nationally to various stores
