Health and Safety Officer

About the Role Our client is seeking a vigilant and proactive Health and Safety Officer to join their team in Soweto. This hybrid role is pivotal in ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all employees within their operations, contributing to the broader goals of the Oil & Gas industry. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures, conducting inspections, and promoting a strong safety culture. Your role will involve educating staff, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation. The ideal candidate is passionate about safety and possesses excellent communication and organizational skills. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Health and Safety management system . Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards. Investigate all workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses, reporting findings and recommending corrective actions. Develop and deliver health and safety training programs to all employees. Ensure compliance with all relevant national health and safety legislation and industry standards. Advise management on health and safety matters and promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization. Requirements National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field. 3+ years of experience as a Health and Safety Officer , preferably in an industrial or oil and gas environment . In-depth knowledge of South African health and safety legislation (e.g., OHS Act). Experience with risk assessments, incident investigation, and safety audits.
