Accounting & Audit Manager – Pretoria

A well-established Accounting and Audit Firm in Pretoria is seeking an experienced Accounting & Audit Manager to join its team. This opportunity is suited to a technically strong accounting professional with solid public practice experience who can manage client portfolios, oversee accounting and audit engagements, and provide guidance to junior and intermediate team members. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance and service delivery across a range of clients.

Key Performance Areas:

• Manage a portfolio of accounting and audit clients
• Oversee accounting and bookkeeping functions across client portfolios
• Review and prepare annual financial statements
• Plan, manage and review audit and assurance engagements
• Review working papers and ensure audit files meet required standards
• Perform and review tax computations and related compliance work
• Oversee VAT, PAYE and other SARS compliance requirements
• Review reconciliations, journals, management accounts and financial records
• Identify accounting and audit issues and provide appropriate solutions
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting and auditing standards
• Communicate with clients and address accounting, audit and tax-related queries
• Supervise, support and review the work of junior team members
• Assist with managing deadlines and ensuring work is completed efficiently
• Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to the overall service delivery of the firm

Requirements:

• BCom Accounting degree or relevant accounting qualification
• Professional designation such as SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA or equivalent will be advantageous
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience within an Accounting and/or Audit Firm
• Strong accounting and financial reporting knowledge
• Practical audit and assurance experience
• Experience with tax and SARS compliance requirements
• Good understanding of IFRS and applicable accounting standards
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Good communication and client relationship skills
• Ability to manage multiple client portfolios and deadlines
• Previous supervisory or management experience will be advantageous
