Assistant Maintenance Manager
SUMMARY:
A 5-star luxury game lodge in Pilanesberg National Park, North West is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, facilities maintenance and team leadership, with responsibility for planning and executing projects, overseeing maintenance activities and ensuring efficient operation of the facilities.
POSITION INFO:
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 4–5 years’ experience in a 4/5-star hotel or lodge
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Electrical Trade Test Certificate
- Bachelor’s degree, diploma or higher certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities Management or related field
- Relevant HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing certifications advantageous
- Wireman’s Licence preferred
- Strong project management, facilities maintenance and team leadership experience
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate maintenance and repair work with Operations departments to required 5-star standards
- Conduct employee performance reviews and assess maintenance staff competency
- Maintain and update Maintenance department operating and training manuals
- Ensure maintenance staff are trained on current operating procedures
- Monitor and review equipment and systems to minimise downtime and identify improvements
- Maintain and repair maintenance workshop equipment
- Maintain clear service records for all lodge equipment
- Prepare reports, analyse data and recommend improvements
- Programme door locks and electronic safes
- Ensure maintenance technicians are trained, equipped and motivated
- Maintain regular communication with maintenance staff
- Assist with recruitment and selection of maintenance personnel
- Initiate projects to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs
- Track and improve maintenance parameters including asset utilisation, maintenance costs and preventative maintenance compliance
- Maintain safety, health and environmental policies and procedures
