Design Engineer - Industrial Machinery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Design Engineer with expertise in industrial machinery to join their team in Polokwane . This role focuses on the conceptualization, design, and development of robust and efficient machinery solutions for various industrial applications. You will work within a hybrid model, collaborating with manufacturing, R&D, and project management teams, balancing remote design work with essential on-site interactions and oversight in the Limpopo region. The ideal candidate is passionate about mechanical design and brings a strong problem-solving aptitude to create innovative industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and develop new industrial machinery and equipment, ensuring functionality, safety, and efficiency.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical specifications using CAD software.
• Perform engineering calculations for stress, load, and performance analysis to validate designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are practical for production and assembly.
• Specify components, materials, and finishes, and prepare Bill of Materials (BOMs).
• Troubleshoot design issues, propose modifications, and support the engineering team during prototyping and testing phases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design of industrial machinery or heavy equipment.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and drafting standards.
• Solid understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to industrial equipment.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, managing tasks remotely and collaborating on-site in Polokwane .
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
