Industrial Cleaning Supervisor

Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Industrial Cleaning Supervisor to lead their cleaning and sanitation team in Durban . This hybrid role requires a hands‑on approach, combining supervisory responsibilities with direct involvement in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness within industrial facilities. You will be responsible for overseeing daily cleaning operations, managing a team of cleaning staff, ensuring adherence to strict safety protocols, and coordinating with other departments to minimize disruption. This is a critical role for ensuring operational efficiency and maintaining a safe, compliant, and hygienic work environment, requiring strong leadership and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the daily activities of the cleaning and sanitation crew, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and to standard.
• Conduct regular workplace inspections to monitor performance, identify sanitation issues, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Develop and implement effective cleaning schedules and procedures for various industrial settings, including machinery sanitation .
• Train new staff on cleaning techniques, equipment operation, and the safe use of chemicals and sanitizing agents .
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, placing orders as needed and ensuring proper storage and maintenance.
• Act as a liaison between the cleaning team and other departments, addressing concerns and coordinating cleaning efforts.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial cleaning or sanitation management .
• Proven experience in a supervisory or team lead role.
• Knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment, techniques, and the safe handling of hazardous materials.
• Understanding of workplace health and safety regulations, particularly in an industrial context.
• Ability to create and manage cleaning schedules and staff rotas effectively.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
