Solar PV Project Developer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and entrepreneurial Solar PV Project Developer to join their fully remote team. This role is critical for identifying, evaluating, and securing new solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in the Western Cape and beyond. You will be responsible for site assessment, preliminary design, securing land rights, and initiating the permitting process. This position offers the unique opportunity to shape the future of renewable energy from a remote location, driving the expansion of our solar portfolio and contributing significantly to sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential sites for solar PV development, assessing resource availability, grid connectivity, and zoning regulations.
• Conduct preliminary project designs and yield assessments to determine technical and economic viability.
• Lead negotiations for land leases, option agreements, and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
• Initiate and manage the early-stage permitting and environmental review process for new projects.
• Develop strong relationships with landowners, local authorities, and community stakeholders.
• Collaborate remotely with internal engineering, finance, and legal teams to advance projects through the development pipeline.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in renewable energy project development , with a strong focus on solar PV .
• Demonstrated success in identifying and advancing development-stage projects.
• Knowledge of solar technology, site assessment, permitting processes, and power purchase agreements .
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities effectively in a fully remote setting.
