Our client is seeking an experienced and service-oriented University Librarian to lead Research Support Services at their East London campus. This vital role involves managing library resources and services that directly support the research activities of faculty and students. You will be responsible for developing and delivering research skills training, managing scholarly communication initiatives, and fostering the use of library collections and databases. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of library science, research methodologies, and information technologies, coupled with excellent leadership and communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the library's research support services, including information literacy instruction and scholarly communication.
Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions on research methodologies, citation management, and database usage.
Provide expert research assistance to faculty, postgraduate students, and researchers.
Oversee the acquisition, organization, and accessibility of library collections relevant to research needs.
Manage institutional repository and promote open access initiatives.
Collaborate with academic departments and research centers to understand and meet their evolving information needs.
Requirements
A Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent.
Significant experience in academic library services, with a focus on research support.
Proficiency in library management systems, databases, and digital research tools.
Strong understanding of scholarly communication, copyright, and open access principles.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects and lead a team.
