Senior Mechanical Engineer - HVAC

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC systems to join their team in Nelspruit. This role is critical for the design, implementation, and management of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for a variety of projects. You will lead design efforts, ensure compliance with regulations, and provide expert technical guidance. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of HVAC principles, extensive design experience, and strong project management skills, contributing to the successful delivery of complex building services within a dynamic engineering consultancy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and specification of HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings.
• Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system performance analysis using specialized software.
• Develop detailed design drawings, schematics, and technical specifications for HVAC equipment and distribution networks.
• Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and other disciplines to ensure integrated building design solutions.
• Oversee site installations, commissioning, and testing of HVAC systems to verify performance against design intent.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing HVAC systems and ensure compliance with codes and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience focused on HVAC system design and engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration or eligibility is highly advantageous.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., HAP, Trace 700, Revit MEP) and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and building physics as they relate to HVAC.
• Experience with project management and client liaison.
