Head of Environmental Health & Safety (Cleaning Focus)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced leader to fill the role of Head of Environmental Health & Safety with a specific focus on cleaning and sanitation operations in Sandton. This senior position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining best-in-class EHS programs, with a particular emphasis on creating and enforcing rigorous hygiene and sanitation standards across all company properties. You will lead initiatives that ensure regulatory compliance, promote workplace safety, and foster a culture of health and cleanliness throughout the organization in Gauteng's premier business hub.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Environmental Health & Safety policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on cleaning and sanitation protocols for sites in Sandton.
• Oversee all aspects of EHS compliance, including regular audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations related to hygiene and sanitation.
• Lead and mentor the EHS team, ensuring effective training and resource management for cleaning operations.
• Collaborate with senior management and department heads to integrate EHS best practices into all business operations.
• Manage budgets for EHS programs, including those related to cleaning supplies, equipment, and staff training.
• Stay abreast of evolving regulations and industry standards in EHS and sanitation, driving continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Environmental Health, Safety Management, Public Health, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in EHS management, with a demonstrable focus on cleaning and sanitation protocols.
• Proven expertise in developing and implementing robust EHS management systems.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or equivalent are essential.
