Senior Network Administrator - Telecoms

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly competent Senior Network Administrator to oversee and manage their critical telecoms network infrastructure in Upington, Northern Cape. This role is fundamental to maintaining the integrity, performance, and security of our client's network systems, ensuring seamless connectivity for their diverse user base. You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, troubleshooting, and optimization of network devices and services. Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and servers.
• Monitor network performance, proactively identify potential issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
• Perform regular network security audits, implement security measures, and respond to security threats.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network problems, providing timely support to end-users and technical teams.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including configurations, procedures, and diagrams.
• Plan and execute network upgrades and migrations, minimizing disruption to services.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in network administration, with a strong focus on enterprise or telecoms networks.
• Proficiency with network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), routing, switching, and firewall management.
• Experience with network monitoring tools and network security best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
