Civil Design Engineer - Water & Sanitation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Civil Design Engineer with a specialization in water and sanitation systems to join their established team in Centurion . This role is critical for designing and implementing sustainable solutions for water supply, treatment, and wastewater management. You will be responsible for the entire design lifecycle, from conceptualization and feasibility studies to detailed design and tender documentation. Working on a variety of municipal and private sector projects, you will collaborate with project managers, environmental scientists, and construction teams to deliver essential infrastructure. This is an ideal position for an engineer passionate about public health and environmental sustainability through effective water resource management.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop detailed engineering plans for water reticulation networks, wastewater treatment plants, and stormwater management systems.
• Conduct hydraulic modeling and analysis to optimize system performance and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Prepare comprehensive design reports, specifications, bills of quantities, and tender documents.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, geologists, and environmental consultants, throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing design queries and ensuring quality adherence.
• Stay abreast of new technologies, materials, and best practices in the water and sanitation sector.

Requirements

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering; Professional registration (Pr.Eng) with ECSA is highly desirable.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience in the design of water and sanitation infrastructure.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., EPANET, WaterGEMS) and CAD software.
• Strong understanding of relevant South African legislation, SANS codes, and environmental regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage project deliverables and client expectations effectively.
