About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Research Chemist specializing in Organic Synthesis to join their innovative research team in Klerksdorp . This role demands expertise in designing and executing complex multi-step syntheses for novel chemical entities. You will be responsible for driving research projects from conception to completion, optimizing synthetic routes, and ensuring the delivery of high-purity compounds. The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background, extensive hands-on laboratory experience, and a passion for chemical innovation, contributing to advancements in chemical research within the North West province, fostering a culture of meticulous scientific practice and discovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and perform complex multi-step organic syntheses to create novel target molecules.
• Optimize existing synthetic routes for efficiency, yield, and scalability.
• Utilize advanced spectroscopic techniques (NMR, Mass Spec, IR) for structural elucidation and purity analysis.
• Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop creative solutions to overcome synthetic hurdles.
• Collaborate with analytical chemists and process engineers to transfer synthetic methods.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and prepare comprehensive research reports.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral or industrial experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Proven track record in designing and executing complex synthetic strategies.
• Proficiency with a wide range of organic reactions and purification techniques.
• Extensive experience with modern analytical techniques for compound characterization.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
