Community Engagement Officer - Rural Initiatives

About the Role

Our client, a non-profit organization focused on rural development and community upliftment, is seeking a proactive and personable Community Engagement Officer to join their team in Mahikeng . This role is vital for fostering strong relationships with local communities, understanding their needs, and facilitating the implementation of impactful development projects. You will be the face of our organization on the ground, building trust and ensuring our initiatives are relevant, accessible, and sustainable for the residents of the North West province. This position requires a deep commitment to rural communities and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to engage rural communities in program activities and decision-making processes.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, local authorities, and residents in Mahikeng and surrounding areas.
• Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and information sessions to disseminate project details and gather feedback.
• Identify community needs and priorities, ensuring program alignment with local contexts.
• Support the coordination of project activities, liaising between the community and the organization's technical teams.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of the socio-economic dynamics of rural areas in the North West .
