Process Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Process Mechanical Engineer to join their industrial operations in Polokwane . This role is integral to optimizing and maintaining the mechanical aspects of industrial processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and reliability. You will be responsible for troubleshooting mechanical issues, implementing process improvements, and contributing to the design and upgrade of mechanical systems within manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process engineering, fluid dynamics, and mechanical systems, working within a team dedicated to operational excellence and continuous improvement in a demanding industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize mechanical aspects of industrial processes to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical equipment failures and operational issues.
• Design, specify, and implement modifications or upgrades to mechanical process systems.
• Develop and maintain P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and mechanical equipment documentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards in all mechanical operations.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve overall plant performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering with a mechanical focus.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process industries (e.g., manufacturing, chemical, mining).
• Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and process equipment (pumps, compressors, heat exchangers).
• Experience with process simulation software and P&ID development.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical systems in an industrial environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
