Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist - Energy Projects

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join their fully remote team, focusing on energy projects. This critical role ensures that all project activities comply with stringent environmental, health, and safety regulations and best practices. You will conduct risk assessments, develop safety protocols, and provide training to project teams, thereby fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. The ideal candidate is proactive, possesses deep knowledge of EHS standards in the energy sector, and thrives working independently in a remote capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive EHS programs for energy projects.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Identify potential hazards and risks, and develop effective mitigation strategies and emergency response plans.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Provide EHS training and guidance to project teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate EHS records and prepare regulatory compliance reports.
• Stay updated on evolving EHS legislation and industry best practices in the energy sector.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS management, preferably within the energy or construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards.
• Experience in conducting risk assessments, developing safety procedures, and managing incident investigations.
• Strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence behavior remotely.
• Certification such as NEBOSH, CSP, or similar is highly advantageous.
