About the Role

Our client is seeking an diligent Environmental Engineer to join their team in Polokwane, specializing in environmental impact assessments and compliance. This role is vital for ensuring that development projects are undertaken in an environmentally responsible manner, minimizing ecological impact and adhering to all regulatory requirements. You will conduct thorough assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and work collaboratively with project teams and regulatory bodies. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, conduct, and manage environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for various development projects.
  • Identify potential environmental risks and propose effective mitigation and management measures.
  • Ensure compliance with national and provincial environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Prepare comprehensive environmental reports, including baseline studies, impact evaluations, and monitoring plans.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and project proponents throughout the assessment and approval process.
  • Provide expert advice on environmental best practices and sustainable development strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (with environmental focus), or a related science degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on EIAs and environmental management.
  • Strong understanding of South African environmental legislation (e.g., NEMA).
  • Proven ability to conduct field assessments and data analysis.
  • Excellent report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., EAPASA) is advantageous.
