Transportation Engineer

About the Role Our client is seeking a skilled Transportation Engineer to contribute to impactful transportation projects in Sandton . This role involves the planning, design, and analysis of road networks, traffic systems, and public transportation infrastructure aimed at improving mobility and safety. You will work closely with urban planners, civil engineers, and government agencies to develop efficient and sustainable transportation solutions for the bustling Gauteng province. The position requires a strong understanding of traffic engineering principles and a commitment to creating effective transport systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct traffic studies, analyses, and capacity assessments for road networks and intersections.
• Design road alignments, pavement structures, and associated infrastructure such as drainage and signage.
• Develop traffic signal timing plans, intersection improvements, and multi-modal transport strategies.
• Prepare traffic management plans for construction projects and special events.
• Liaise with clients, municipal authorities, and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and approvals.
• Utilize traffic modeling software to simulate and evaluate transportation network performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in transportation planning and design.
• Proficiency in traffic analysis software such as VISSIM, Synchro, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of geometric design principles and South African road standards.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
