Senior Environmental Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Environmental Engineer to join their leading remote team. This role is critical for guiding the environmental aspects of large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting sustainable practices. You will lead environmental impact assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and advise on environmental management plans. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in environmental science and engineering, coupled with strong leadership and communication skills essential for managing projects in a distributed environment. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
• Develop and implement strategies for pollution control, waste management, and resource conservation.
• Provide expert advice on environmental permitting and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct site assessments and audits to evaluate environmental risks and performance.
• Collaborate with project teams, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to ensure environmental objectives are met.
• Mentor junior environmental engineers and contribute to the development of best practices.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting or engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and permitting processes in South Africa.
• Experience with environmental modeling and risk assessment techniques.
• Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
