About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Litigation Associate to join their esteemed legal team in Pietermaritzburg . This role involves managing complex litigation cases from inception through resolution, providing expert legal counsel, and representing clients in court and alternative dispute resolution forums. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of civil procedure, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to develop winning legal strategies. Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of diverse litigation matters, including drafting pleadings, discovery, motions, and settlement agreements.
• Conduct legal research, analyze complex legal issues, and provide strategic advice to clients.
• Represent clients in all stages of litigation, including pre-trial negotiations, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates and legal support staff.
• Maintain strong client relationships and ensure timely communication regarding case progress and strategy.
• Develop and implement innovative legal strategies to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in litigation
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex civil litigation matters.
• In-depth knowledge of South African civil and criminal procedure and evidence law.
• Excellent research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Proficiency in legal research databases and case management software.
