Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly organized and dedicated Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead their support services in Rustenburg . This critical role involves identifying and addressing the diverse learning needs of students with special educational requirements. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and external specialists to develop and implement effective support strategies and Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The SENCO will play a vital role in ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can reach their full potential. This position requires a compassionate individual with a strong understanding of educational psychology and SEN best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the provision of support for students with special educational needs across the school.
• Conduct assessments to identify students requiring additional support and develop tailored IEPs.
• Liaise with parents, teachers, and external agencies (e.g., therapists, educational psychologists) to ensure a cohesive support network.
• Provide guidance and training to teaching staff on effective strategies for supporting students with diverse needs.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and support provided, ensuring confidentiality.
• Advocate for the needs of students with SEN within the school community.

Requirements

• Recognized qualification in Special Education or a related field.
• Proven experience working with students with a range of special educational needs.
• Thorough understanding of relevant legislation and policies pertaining to SEN.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to develop and implement effective support strategies and IEPs.
• Experience in coordinating support services within a school setting is advantageous.
