Lead Chemical Plant Engineer

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly experienced Lead Chemical Plant Engineer to oversee and manage all engineering operations at their major industrial facility in Rustenburg . This critical role involves leading a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of complex chemical processing plants. You will be responsible for strategic planning, capital project execution, and continuous improvement initiatives, playing a key role in maintaining operational excellence and driving future growth within the organization. This position demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of plant operations and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of plant engineers and technicians, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of plant equipment and infrastructure.
• Develop and implement strategies for process optimization, energy efficiency, and waste reduction.
• Manage capital expenditure projects from conception through to commissioning and handover.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Conduct regular plant inspections, risk assessments, and performance reviews.

Requirements

• BEng/BSc in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of proven experience in chemical plant operations and management.
• Extensive knowledge of process safety management (PSM) and industry best practices.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale engineering projects and budgets.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and team management abilities.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements in North West province.
