Civil Engineer - Water and Wastewater Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized Civil Engineer focused on Water and Wastewater Systems to join their team in Upington . This role involves the design, planning, and project management of essential water and sewerage infrastructure, including treatment plants, pipelines, pump stations, and distribution networks. You will play a key part in developing sustainable and efficient systems to meet the growing needs of communities in the Northern Cape . The position requires strong technical expertise, practical problem-solving abilities, and effective collaboration with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure the successful delivery of critical public utility projects, contributing to improved public health and environmental protection.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and analysis of water treatment processes and distribution networks.
• Develop plans for wastewater collection systems and treatment facilities.
• Conduct hydraulic modeling for water supply and sewerage systems.
• Prepare design reports, tender documents, and construction supervision plans.
• Manage projects from conception through to commissioning, ensuring quality and budget adherence.
• Liaise with municipal authorities, environmental agencies, and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water/Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the design and management of water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is required.
• Proficiency in relevant design software such as EPANET, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of municipal standards, environmental regulations, and treatment technologies.
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
