Bioprocess Development Engineer

Our client seeks a talented Bioprocess Development Engineer to join their growing team in Tembisa . This role is crucial for optimizing and scaling up biological manufacturing processes for novel biotherapeutics. You will be instrumental in developing robust, efficient, and reproducible processes from laboratory scale to pilot and commercial manufacturing. Working closely with research, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams, you will ensure the successful translation of scientific discoveries into life-changing medicines. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and scale-up mammalian cell culture or microbial fermentation processes.
• Design and execute experiments to characterize critical process parameters and define operating ranges.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during process development and scale-up activities.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation for regulatory submissions, and present findings to cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth technology transfer and successful implementation of developed processes at the production scale.

Requirements

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical process development , with a strong understanding of upstream processing.
• Hands-on experience with bioreactors, cell culture/fermentation, downstream processing, and relevant analytical techniques.
• Knowledge of GMP guidelines and regulatory requirements for biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent data analysis skills.
