Senior Process Chemical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Chemical Engineer to join their dynamic team in Johannesburg . This role is pivotal in optimizing and developing chemical processes to ensure efficiency, safety, and product quality. You will be instrumental in troubleshooting operational issues, driving process improvements, and contributing to the design of new plant facilities. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and scale up chemical processes to meet production targets and quality standards.
• Conduct rigorous process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement necessary safety protocols.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational and equipment issues in real-time.
• Design and implement process control strategies and monitor key performance indicators.
• Collaborate with R&D, production, and maintenance teams on project implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and process flow diagrams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering, ideally within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• Proven expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mass transfer principles.
• Experience with HAZOP studies and process safety management.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
