Director of Operations - Sports Facilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and operational leader as the new Director of Operations for their expansive sports facilities in Durban. This critical role involves overseeing the day-to-day management of multiple venues, ensuring seamless operations, exceptional customer experiences, and efficient resource utilization. You will be responsible for facility maintenance, staff management, event logistics, and budget control to maintain the highest standards of service within the competitive Leisure & Sports market. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of daily operations for multiple sports facilities, ensuring efficient and safe environments.
• Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance service quality and efficiency.
• Manage facility maintenance, repairs, and capital improvement projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team of operational staff, including facility managers and support personnel.
• Develop and manage operational budgets, controlling costs while meeting performance targets.
• Coordinate with event management, marketing, and programming teams to ensure successful execution of all activities hosted at the facilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Facility Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management, with a significant portion within the sports facility management or entertainment venue industry.
• Proven ability to manage large-scale budgets and complex operational plans.
• Demonstrated experience in staff leadership, team building, and performance management.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and security regulations relevant to public venues.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
