Senior Petroleum Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Petroleum Engineer to join their operational team in Klerksdorp. This pivotal role involves leading the technical aspects of field development and production optimization for our key assets. You will leverage your extensive knowledge of reservoir analysis, production engineering, and economic evaluation to drive maximum value from our hydrocarbon resources. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a proven track record of success in challenging environments, and the ability to mentor junior engineers. This position is essential for guiding strategic decisions and ensuring the efficient and profitable extraction of oil and gas.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement optimized production strategies for oil and gas fields.
• Conduct detailed reservoir engineering studies, including performance monitoring, forecasting, and economic evaluations.
• Identify and evaluate opportunities for well workovers, artificial lift, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques.
• Collaborate with geologists and drilling engineers to ensure integrated field development plans.
• Analyze production data to identify trends, diagnose issues, and recommend solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior petroleum engineers, fostering their technical and professional growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in petroleum engineering, with significant field experience.
• Expertise in reservoir simulation, production optimization software, and economic modeling.
• Strong understanding of geological concepts, formation evaluation, and drilling operations.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience managing technical projects.
