Fleet Manager

About the Role

Our client is looking for a strategic and detail-oriented Fleet Manager to lead their fleet operations in Durban. This critical role involves managing the acquisition, maintenance, and utilization of the company's vehicle fleet to ensure maximum efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of fleet operations, including driver management, vehicle scheduling, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation logistics and a proven ability to optimize fleet performance within a demanding operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the company's vehicle fleet, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
• Manage vehicle acquisition, maintenance schedules, and repairs to minimize downtime and control costs.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for safe and efficient vehicle operation.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.
• Monitor fuel consumption, mileage, and driver performance to identify areas for improvement.
• Manage relationships with vehicle suppliers, maintenance providers, and insurance companies.

Requirements

• Proven experience in fleet management or a related transportation/logistics role.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair, and fleet management software.
• Excellent understanding of transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Demonstrated ability in cost control and budget management for fleet operations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing a diverse fleet in the Durban area is a plus.
