Energy Project Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and results-oriented Energy Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of energy infrastructure projects in Cape Town . This role is integral to managing the planning, execution, and successful completion of diverse energy initiatives, from traditional power generation to emerging clean energy technologies. You will be responsible for coordinating with cross-functional teams, managing stakeholders, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. This is a critical position for an experienced professional ready to make a significant impact on the energy landscape of the Western Cape.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of energy projects, from initial conception and feasibility studies to construction and commissioning.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
• Coordinate and manage internal teams, external contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure project milestones are met.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Manage stakeholder communications, providing regular progress reports and addressing concerns proactively.
• Implement project management best practices and drive continuous improvement in project execution processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management within the energy sector , including power generation, transmission, or distribution.
• Demonstrated success in managing large-scale capital projects from start to finish.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2).
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
• PMP certification is a strong asset.
