Theatre Stage Manager

About the Role

Our client, a renowned theatre company in East London , is seeking an experienced and highly organized Theatre Stage Manager . This critical role ensures the smooth and efficient running of all theatrical productions, from rehearsals through to final performances. You will be the central point of communication for the cast, crew, director, and creative team, managing schedules, cueing performances, and maintaining artistic integrity. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, possesses exceptional organizational and communication skills, and has a deep understanding of theatrical production processes within the vibrant East London cultural scene.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of rehearsals, including scheduling actors, blocking notes, and technical cues.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the director, cast, crew, and management.
• Prepare and distribute daily schedules, cue sheets, and production reports.
• Oversee the execution of technical cues (lighting, sound, set changes) during performances.
• Maintain communication with all departments to ensure smooth transitions and resolve any issues that arise.
• Manage stage operations, ensuring props, costumes, and set pieces are organized and readily available.
• Foster a positive and collaborative working environment for the entire production team.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Stage Manager in a professional theatre setting.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to communicate clearly under pressure.
• Familiarity with theatrical terminology, practices, and technical aspects (lighting, sound, set design).
• Ability to read and interpret stage directions, technical plots, and cue sheets.
