Power Plant Operations Supervisor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Power Plant Operations Supervisor to lead their dedicated team in Nelspruit . This critical role involves overseeing the daily operations of a power generation facility, ensuring optimal efficiency, safety, and compliance with all environmental and regulatory standards. You will manage shift operations, troubleshoot equipment issues, and coordinate maintenance activities to maintain reliable power output. This hands-on position is essential for maintaining the operational integrity of our energy production capabilities in the Mpumalanga region, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the activities of power plant operators and technicians during assigned shifts.
• Monitor plant operations, ensuring all equipment functions within specified parameters and efficiency targets are met.
• Respond effectively to abnormal operating conditions and emergencies, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance activities with the maintenance department to minimize downtime.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain accurate operational logs, reports, and performance data.
• Provide training and mentorship to plant operations staff, fostering professional development.

Requirements

• Trade qualification or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in power plant operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Strong understanding of power generation technologies (e.g., thermal, hydro, gas turbine) and associated control systems.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve operational issues effectively and safely.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in relevant operational software and safety protocols.
