Junior Civil Engineer - Geotechnical Focus

About the Role

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Junior Civil Engineer with a keen interest in Geotechnical Engineering to join their team based in Durban . This role is office-based, providing invaluable hands-on experience and direct mentorship from senior geotechnical experts. You will gain practical exposure to site investigations, foundation design, soil analysis, and construction support for a variety of challenging projects. This position is perfect for a recent graduate or early-career engineer eager to build a solid foundation in a specialized field of civil engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting geotechnical site investigations , including drilling and sampling.


• Perform laboratory testing and analysis of soil and rock samples.


• Contribute to the design of foundations, retaining walls, and earthworks.


• Prepare geotechnical investigation reports and recommendations.


• Provide construction support, monitoring site conditions and contractor activities.


• Collaborate with senior engineers on complex geotechnical challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.


• A strong academic background with a focus or demonstrated interest in geotechnical engineering.


• Familiarity with geotechnical software and testing procedures.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a site or office team.


• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
