Remote Senior Chemical Engineer - Process Optimization

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Remote Senior Chemical Engineer to spearhead process optimization initiatives. This role is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa, with a focus on improving existing chemical manufacturing processes for efficiency, safety, and sustainability. You will apply advanced engineering principles and data analytics to identify bottlenecks, reduce operational costs, and enhance product consistency. This is a key position for an individual who thrives on problem-solving, can work autonomously, and possesses a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles to drive tangible improvements in operational performance from a distance, making a significant impact on their Rustenburg -based operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze existing chemical manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for optimization and cost reduction.
• Utilize data analytics, simulation tools, and modeling to predict process performance and recommend improvements.
• Develop and implement strategies for enhancing process safety, reliability, and environmental compliance.
• Collaborate remotely with plant operations teams to guide the implementation of process changes and troubleshoot issues.
• Prepare detailed reports and technical documentation on process improvements and performance metrics.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on complex process engineering challenges.

Requirements

• B.Eng. or B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering .
• Over 7 years of experience in chemical process engineering, with a strong emphasis on optimization and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD) and data analysis tools.
• Proven ability to manage projects and drive initiatives to successful completion remotely.
• Excellent understanding of chemical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and reaction engineering.
• Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
