General Legal Practitioner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a versatile and client-focused General Legal Practitioner to join their fully remote legal practice. This role involves providing a broad range of legal services to individuals and businesses, covering areas such as family law, estate planning, commercial disputes, and general civil litigation. You will manage your own caseload, offering expert advice and representation while maintaining strong client relationships. This is an ideal opportunity for a self-motivated legal professional to operate autonomously, serving clients effectively from a remote location and making a tangible difference in the community of East London and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and representation in diverse areas including family law, wills and estates, and civil litigation.
• Draft legal documents such as contracts, affidavits, wills, and pleadings.
• Manage client cases from inception through to resolution, including court appearances where necessary.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
• Maintain accurate client records and manage billing processes efficiently.
• Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a general practitioner or in a similar broad legal role.
• Demonstrated experience across multiple areas of law (e.g., family, property, commercial, litigation).
• Strong client management and communication skills, suitable for remote interaction.
• Proficiency in legal research and drafting, with a keen attention to detail.
