Senior Network Engineer - Telecoms

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Network Engineer to join their established team in Cape Town . This critical role involves the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of advanced network solutions essential for our client's telecommunications services. You will be responsible for ensuring network integrity, performance, and security, playing a key part in delivering seamless connectivity to their diverse clientele. Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage enterprise-level telecommunications networks , ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
• Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and access control lists, to protect against threats.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
• Develop and maintain detailed network documentation, including topology diagrams and configuration standards.
• Stay abreast of emerging network technologies and trends within the telecoms industry .

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in network engineering, with a specialization in telecoms infrastructure .
• In-depth knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) and switching technologies.
• Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or Huawei.
• Proficiency in network monitoring tools and performance analysis techniques.
• Strong understanding of IP networking, subnetting, and network security best practices.
• Possession of relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP) is highly desirable.
