Electrical Controls Engineer - Manufacturing
About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Controls Engineer to design, implement, and optimize automated manufacturing processes at their facilities, with potential for remote collaboration from Stellenbosch . This role is central to enhancing production efficiency, quality, and safety through the application of advanced control systems and automation technologies. You will work closely with production teams to troubleshoot issues, upgrade existing systems, and integrate new equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for manufacturing equipment and production lines.
- Develop Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications for operator control and monitoring of automated processes.
- Specify and integrate electrical components, including sensors, actuators, drives, and safety devices.
- Perform root cause analysis on control system failures and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
- Provide technical support to maintenance teams and assist in the training of personnel on new control systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial control systems and automation engineering .
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell Automation) and HMI software.
- Strong understanding of industrial networks (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP) and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with robotic integration and vision systems is a plus.
