Senior Reservoir Engineer - Oil & Gas

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly analytical Senior Reservoir Engineer to join their dynamic team in Pietermaritzburg . This pivotal role involves conducting in-depth reservoir studies, developing production strategies, and optimizing hydrocarbon recovery for key assets. You will collaborate with geoscientists, production engineers, and management to ensure the economic viability and efficient exploitation of oil and gas reserves. This is a critical position for an individual passionate about maximizing asset performance and contributing to the strategic direction of exploration and production activities within the Oil & Gas sector in KwaZulu-Natal .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed reservoir characterization and performance analysis using advanced simulation software.
• Develop and implement optimized field development plans and production enhancement strategies.
• Conduct economic evaluations and risk assessments for new projects and existing fields.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on reservoir management best practices.
• Monitor reservoir performance, forecast production, and identify opportunities for optimization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in reservoir engineering within the Oil & Gas industry .
• Proficiency in reservoir simulation software (e.g., Eclipse, CMG) and data analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of reservoir physics, fluid flow, and recovery mechanisms.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with well test analysis and production logging data interpretation is advantageous.
