About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Farm Operations Manager to lead their agricultural operations in the diverse landscape surrounding East London . This leadership role is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of all farming activities, aiming to maximize productivity, efficiency, and profitability while upholding high standards of sustainability and land stewardship. You will manage a substantial team, oversee significant budgets, and implement advanced farming techniques across various crops. This is a critical position for driving operational excellence and innovation within one of the region's key agricultural enterprises in the Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans for farm operations, setting targets for yield, quality, and profitability.
• Oversee daily farm activities, including crop cultivation, pest and disease management, irrigation, and harvesting.
• Manage and motivate a large team of farm workers, supervisors, and technical staff, fostering a culture of high performance and safety.
• Control farm budgets, manage expenditures, and ensure efficient resource allocation.
• Implement and monitor best practices in sustainable agriculture, environmental management, and food safety.
• Oversee the maintenance and operation of farm machinery and infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural regulations, labor laws, and environmental standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Farm Management, Agronomy, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in farm management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale agricultural operations and teams.
• In-depth knowledge of crop science, soil management, irrigation techniques, and pest control strategies.
• Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management and cost control.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
