Quantity Surveyor - Large-Scale Projects

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and astute Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding team, managing the financial aspects of significant construction projects in Pretoria . This role is crucial for controlling costs and ensuring the commercial viability of projects from inception to completion. You will be responsible for cost estimation, budgeting, contract administration, and managing all financial matters related to construction activities, ensuring profitability and adherence to contractual obligations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of construction economics, contributing to the successful financial management of complex developments in the Gauteng region, within a firm committed to ethical business practices and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates, feasibility studies, and detailed budgets for various construction projects in Pretoria .
• Manage the tender process, including preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and negotiating contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Administer construction contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions, and managing variations and claims.
• Monitor project expenditures, control costs, and forecast financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct site visits to assess progress and verify interim and final payments, ensuring value for money.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks associated with construction projects.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor , with a focus on large-scale construction projects.
• Proficiency in cost management software and strong Excel skills for financial analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of contract law and standard forms of contract (e.g., JBCC, NEC).
• Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Cost Management (e.g., BSc or BTech).
• Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
