Mine Planner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and analytical Mine Planner to contribute to their long-term strategic planning initiatives in Klerksdorp . This role is pivotal in developing and optimizing mine plans that ensure the efficient and cost-effective extraction of mineral resources over the life of the mine. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, translating geological data and engineering constraints into actionable plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and a keen eye for detail, essential for long-term success in this demanding mining role.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and update long-term and strategic mine plans, considering geological models, production targets, and economic factors.
• Perform mine design and scheduling using specialized mine planning software.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects or mine expansions.
• Optimize mine layouts, access routes, and extraction sequences for efficiency and safety.
• Collaborate with operations, geology, and engineering departments to ensure plan feasibility and alignment.
• Monitor plan execution and provide recommendations for adjustments based on operational performance and changing conditions.

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mine planning and design.
• Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning software (e.g., Vulcan, Deswik, MineSight).
• Strong understanding of open-pit and/or underground mining principles and practices.
• Experience in resource modeling and reserve estimation is beneficial.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
