Mechanical Installation Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and experienced Mechanical Installation Technician to join their team in Upington. This role is crucial for the correct installation, setup, and maintenance of complex mechanical systems and machinery for various industrial and commercial applications. You will be responsible for ensuring that all installations are performed safely, efficiently, and according to precise specifications. The ideal candidate has a strong background in mechanical assembly, troubleshooting, and a keen eye for detail. This is a hands-on position vital to the success of projects within the Installation & Maintenance sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and commission mechanical equipment and systems according to blueprints and technical documentation.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on mechanical machinery to prevent failures.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, identifying root causes of malfunctions.
• Conduct repairs and replace worn or faulty mechanical components.
• Ensure all installations and maintenance activities adhere to strict safety standards and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and equipment status.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Technician or in a similar installation role.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, systems, and components.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Proficiency with mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment, and potentially welding equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work meticulously on intricate machinery.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel to sites in and around Upington.
