Aviation Ground Operations Manager

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Aviation Ground Operations Manager to oversee their operations in Polokwane. This hybrid role requires a leader who can effectively manage ground handling services, ensuring efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for leading a diverse team, optimizing resource allocation, and maintaining compliance with all relevant aviation ground handling regulations. This position offers a dynamic mix of on-site leadership and remote strategic planning, contributing to the seamless operation of airport services.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all aspects of ground handling operations , including baggage, cargo, aircraft servicing, and passenger assistance.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, security procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., SACAA).
• Develop and implement operational plans to optimize efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and control costs.
• Lead, train, and motivate ground operations staff, fostering a culture of performance and safety.
• Liaise with airline customers, air traffic control, and other airport stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
• Monitor performance metrics, analyze operational data, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Proven experience in aviation ground operations management or a related airport operations role.
• Strong understanding of ground handling procedures, equipment, and safety regulations.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage resources effectively and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Proficiency in relevant airport operations software and systems.
• Flexibility to work non-standard hours and manage both on-site and remote responsibilities.
