Control Room Operator - Energy
About the Role
Our client is seeking a vigilant and technically skilled Control Room Operator to monitor and manage their energy production facilities near East London. This role is essential for the real-time oversight of complex industrial processes, ensuring operational stability, safety, and efficiency. You will be responsible for monitoring critical parameters, responding to alarms, and coordinating operational adjustments to maintain optimal performance within the Oil & Gas sector. This position requires exceptional concentration, quick decision-making abilities, and a strong understanding of industrial control systems in a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control industrial processes using Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and SCADA systems.
- Respond effectively to alarms and operational upsets, ensuring timely and appropriate actions are taken.
- Maintain accurate logs of operational activities, equipment status, and production data.
- Communicate effectively with field operations personnel and management regarding operational status and issues.
- Ensure adherence to all safety procedures and environmental regulations during operations.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Control Room Operator in an industrial or Oil & Gas setting.
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems (DCS, SCADA) and process monitoring.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Excellent observational skills, attention to detail, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus.
