Project Manager - Mining Operations

About the Role

Our client, a major player in the mining industry, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead significant operational improvement projects in the Nelspruit region. This role demands a strong understanding of mining processes, safety protocols, and project management best practices. You will be responsible for overseeing projects that enhance efficiency, productivity, and safety across mining operations. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the planning, execution, and closure of projects focused on operational efficiency and technological upgrades in mining.
• Ensure all projects adhere to strict safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Coordinate with mine engineers, geologists, production teams, and external contractors.
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to prevent operational disruptions.
• Monitor project performance, report on progress, and communicate key updates to senior management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of project management experience, with at least 5 years in the mining or heavy industrial sector.
• Demonstrated success in managing large-scale operational or capital projects.
• Strong knowledge of mining processes, equipment, and safety standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and relevant technical tools.
• Relevant degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• PMP certification is highly advantageous.
